White ZZ German
This very unusual White was made in Germany when White contracted to have their machines made there. Could not find a trace of information on this model till I noticed the manual for the Domestic sewing machine made in Cleveland, Ohio. It was the same machine but for the name tag and slightly different knobs and handles. Domestic became a subsidiary of WHITE in 1924 and were sold to Sears Department stores by White.

This machine was listed as described in the manual as a treadle sewing machine. The motor now on the sewing machine is an add on by others than WHITE probably. Never the less it is very well made and perfect for treadle use and is a rotary action.

The price is $180.00 and will work well in the special re-built White treadle on another page of this site if it is not sold.

Loaded with quality workmanship and material while set to sew using a few unusual systems. At the least they are different but the sewing machine sews like a charm. It in deed will be good in a treadle.

This head could be used in an industrial treadle just fine and could handle the heavy material with ease. It also will sew thin silk (the manual suggest using tissue paper under the silk while stitching.)

This heavy duty motor was an add on after it left the factory I'm sure. The belt tension cannot be adusted as installed. Hope someone gives it a home in a treadle.

On the right side of the machine are two simular levers. The one on the left along with the knob above it determine the stitch length. The one on the right side sets the feed dogs at three doiferent positions.

This view reveals the German way to engeneer a machine. Comparing it to a Singer it is a vast over kill but this is the way it was done by the Germans. The drive shaft drops from the top side near the back edge and moves over to the hook area and has two gear covers filled with grease.

This is a closeup view and if this machine finds a home in a treadle I will empty this case and fill with a much lighter lubrication. This to make it treadle lighter.

This is the other side and the same here. If it remains electric I would leave it as is. It appears this part of the design was made for very heavy duty sewing use.

The bobbin on the left side came in the bobbin case next to it and are near new bobbins of the same size. They are readly available and are used in many industrial machines. They compare with the class 15 bobbin (red thread) and hold a little less thread.

It quickly made ever stitch requeated. This machine would be a very fine tools in the hands of a skilled sewer.
